Rainbow Designer & Associates was established in Indore in 1995 by Vikrant and Sapna Bhawsar — two designers whose instinct to incorporate nature and light into built space has remained constant across three decades of changing briefs, materials, and scales.
Vikrant brought to the practice a background in landscape and design. Sapna brought interior design. From the beginning, the studio treated these not as separate disciplines but as facets of a single question: how should a space feel to be inside?
Over 1,000 completed projects later — residences, resorts, restaurants, hotels, clinics, institutions, and farms — the question has not changed. Only the answers have grown more refined.
In recent years, Tasmay Bhawsar — architect, trained at Nirma University and sharpened at a practice in Mumbai — and Tanishq Bhawsar — landscape architect with a master's degree from BNCA, Pune — joined the practice, bringing a second generation of thinking to the same fundamentals.
The studio is based in New Palasia, Indore. We take on projects across Madhya Pradesh and beyond, working at every scale from a backyard landscape to a full resort development.
Every project begins with a conversation. We ask about how the family actually lives. About what they have never found in a home before. About what the building will mean to the people who use it, not just the person who commissioned it.
A beautiful building that is uncomfortable to be inside has failed. We design for the experience of inhabiting a space — the temperature in December, the quality of light at six in the morning, the way sound moves through a corridor. Aesthetics follow from these decisions.
We favour materials that age honestly — stone, teak, brick, plaster, glass. These cannot pretend to be something they are not. A building made of honest materials becomes more itself over time. That is the only definition of timelessness that interests us.
The ground a building stands on is as designed as the building itself. Tanishq Bhawsar leads our landscape practice with an approach grounded in local ecology — landscapes that require less water as they mature, support native species, and look as though they have always been there.

Vikrant Bhawsar has been practising architecture in Indore since 1995. His approach combines a landscape sensibility — learned as a self-taught discipline before the practice was founded — with a rigorous architectural intelligence shaped by thirty years of built work. He has designed residences, hotels, restaurants, and institutions across Madhya Pradesh.
Design Director & Founder
Sapna Bhawsar leads the interior design practice at RDA. A graduate in interior design, she has directed the studio's approach to interiors since 1995 — an approach built on restraint, layered materiality, and the conviction that the best interiors are the ones that feel inevitable. Her work does not shout. It settles.
Architect
Tasmay Bhawsar graduated from Nirma University, Ahmedabad — one of the country's most rigorous architecture programmes — before completing his training at a practice in Mumbai. He leads design development at RDA, driving the studio's contemporary direction while remaining anchored in the practice's established design values.
Landscape Architect
Tanishq Bhawsar holds a master's degree in landscape architecture from BNCA, Pune. She leads the landscape design dimension of the practice, designing gardens and outdoor spaces that begin with the existing ecology of a site rather than imposing a vision upon it. Her work is measurably sustainable and visually unhurried.

Since 1995, Rainbow Designer & Associates has been recognised across Indian and international architecture and design media for work that consistently prioritises spatial quality over trend.
RDA was felicitated by the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, for its contributions to the state's architectural landscape.
Selected projects have been featured in Society Interiors & Design, Architecture + Design, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, The Architect's Diary, Rethinking The Future, Amazing Architecture, Volume Zero, interiors INDIA, and CW Interiors.
Beyond School — an initiative by ISCDL — was recognised as an ISCDL Finalist, reflecting the practice's reach across education, hospitality, residential, and commercial architecture.
